Cute but boring

I wanted to like this game, but there was a lack of logic to it. I would scare people and sometimes they would keep standing there, or theyd run but AWAY from the door that I wanted them to run toward. This was flagged as a puzzle game but I dont see the puzzle in it. It feels more like randomly flying around and tapping the screen until, hours later, you beat the level by chance. The controls were a little clunky in that when I wanted the ghost to do something spooky he would often fly out of the object instead. Is there some strategy Im missing? The graphics were adorable and I really liked them but after haunting the same objects over and over I began to get really bored and frustrated and kind of disappointed that is spent any money on this at all. The reviews seem to be mostly very good, so I dont know what Im missing.
